Lets Get Started! 

Are you ready for the Super Secret Cottonwood House Family Cinnamon Roll Recipe? 

We are ONLY giving it to YOU because Followers, and Supporters of the Cottonwood House are Truly Family to us! 

I Give You...

Grandma's Cinnamon Rolls 

Ingredients:

Dough-

1 C Softened Margarine or Butter

2 1/2 C Warm Water

3/4 C Sugar

2 TBS Yeast

2 1/2 TSP Salt

4 Eggs

7 1/2 C Flour

Filling-

1 Stick Butter

2 C Brown Sugar

1 C Cinnamon Sugar 

Directions: 

Dissolve yeast in the warm water. Add the sugar to this mixture. 

Set Aside.

Blend margarine or butter, eggs, and salt. 

Stir in yeast mixture. 

Add 7 1/2 C flour. 

Blend Well.

Cover. 

Let rise for one hour before making into cinnamon rolls. 

Roll out dough.

Melt butter, and evenly spread onto the dough. 

Alternate sprinkling cinnamon sugar, and brown sugar onto melted butter.

Tightly Roll.

Cut into about 1 inch slices.

Cook for 10 minutes at 375.

Let cool and ENJOY!

Before we get started on today's Ghoulish Festivities, we need to Announce

Here we go! 

Your Mouth will be Watering at this Next Recipe! 

Nothing says FALL like a Warm Bowl of Soup!

Broccoli and Cheddar Cheese Soup

Ingredients: 

2 tbsp. olive oil

2 stalk celery

2 clove garlic

1 onion

1 medium russet potato (about 8 oz)

1 bunch broccoli (about 1 1/4 lb)

Kosher salt and pepper

1 c. lowfat milk

¼ tsp. freshly grated or ground nutmeg

6 oz. extra-sharp Cheddar

Directions:

Heat oven to 400°F. On a rimmed baking sheet, toss the bread with 1 Tbsp oil. Bake until golden brown and crisp, 5 to 7 minutes; set aside.
1. Heat the remaining Tbsp oil in a large saucepan over medium heat. Add the celery, garlic, onion, potato, broccoli stalks, 3/4 tsp salt and 1/4 tsp pepper and cook, covered, stirring occasionally, until just tender, 5 to 6 minutes.
2. Meanwhile, cut the remaining broccoli into small florets. Add the florets and 3 cups water to the vegetables, cover and bring to a boil. Once boiling, the broccoli should be just tender; if not, simmer 1 to 2 minutes more.
3. Remove from heat and, using a handheld immersion blender (or a standard blender, working in batches and returning to the saucepan), purée the vegetable mixture. Add the milk and nutmeg and simmer to heat through, about 2 minutes. Add the cheese and stir until melted. Serve with the croutons.

Autumn in Kentucky Party DAY 1

Welcome to Day 1 

of our 

Autumn in Kentucky

BLOG PARTY! 

This year is Extra Special to Us, as we are Celebrating 25 years of being in Business! 

We are Sure to have A LOT OF WICKED FUN over the next 5 days.

Let's Get Started! 

Apple Baked Apples

Ingredients

3 Granny Smith apples

3 pink lady apples

1 tbsp. warm water

2 tsp. cornstarch

2 tbsp. unsalted butter

Juice from 1/2 a lemon

1 tsp. cinnamon, plus more for sprinkling

1/3 c. granulated sugar, plus more for sprinkling

1 pie crust

1 large egg beaten with 1 tbsp. milk (egg wash)

Caramel, for drizzling

Directions: 

1. Preheat oven to 375°.
2. Preheat oven to 375°.
3. Peel and dice one green and one red apple. Slice off the tops and, using a melon baller, hollow out the remaining apples. Set aside.
4. In a small bowl, whisk together warm water and cornstarch.
5. In a small saucepan over medium heat, melt butter. Add diced apples, lemon juice, cinnamon, and sugar. Bring to a simmer and cook until apples are tender, about 5 minutes. Add in cornstarch mixture and cook 5 minutes more.
6. Place hollowed out apples in a baking dish and fill with cooked apple mixture.
7. On a piece of wax paper, roll out pie dough and cut into 4 circles. Slice each circle into thin strips. Make a lattice top on each apple, trimming any excess.
8. Brush crust with egg wash and sprinkle with more cinnamon sugar. Bake until apples are tender and crust is golden, 28 to 30 minutes.
9. Drizzle with caramel and serve immediately.
10. ENJOY!
