Now, onto some comfort food! This recipe is our Family's FAVORITE go-to soup dishes!

French Onion Soup

Ingredients:

1/2 C unsalted butter

2 TBS olive oil

4 C sliced onions

4 (10.5 ounce) cans beef broth

1 TSP dried thyme

salt and pepper to taste

4 slices French Bread

4 slices provolone cheese 

2 slices Swiss cheese, diced

1/4 C grated Parmesan cheese

Directions: 

1. Melt butter with olive oil in an 8 quart pot on medium heat. Add onions and continually stir until tender. Do not brown the onions.

2. Add beef broth and thyme. Season with salt and pepper, and simmer for 30 minutes.

3. Heat the oven broiler.

4. Ladle soup into oven safe serving bowls and place one slice of bread on top of each (bread may be broken into pieces if you prefer.) Layer each slice of bread with a slice of provolone, 1/2 slice diced Swiss and 1 TBS Parmesan cheese. Place bowls on cookie sheet and broil in the preheated oven until cheese bubbles and browns slightly.

Ready to Take A Ride on Santa's Sleigh?

NO-BAKE Pretzel and Candy Reindeer

This recipe is from Pillsbury.com

Ingredients: 

12 oz. Vanilla-flavored candy coating or almond bark, cut into pieces

24 caramel corn-flavored miniature rice cakes

48 miniature pretzel twists

48 chocolate chips

24 red cinnamon candies

Directions:

1. Line cookie sheet with waxed paper. In medium saucepan, melt candy coating over low heat, stirring constantly.

2. For each Rudolph, dip rice cake in candy coating; place on waxed paper-lined cookie sheet. Dip rounded side of 2 pretzels in candy coating; place on cookie sheet on each side of rice cake to resemble antlers.

3. Decorate with chocolate chips for eyes and cinnamon candy for nose. Let stand 15 minutes or until set. Carefully remove from waxed paper; store in tightly covered container.

1894 Cottonwood House Homemade Hot Chocolate 

 1 8-Quart Box Instant Nonfat Dry Milk
1 6-8 Ounce Powdered Cream Nestle Coffee Mate
1 Pound Box Quick Nestle Nesquik -Chocolate Flavor-
1 Cup Powdered Sugar
1 3 Ounce Box Vanilla INSTANT Pudding

Combine all the ingredients. Mix Well. Put in container with lid. Measure 1/3 C mix to 1 C HOT water. Stir.
